Walailak University Joins Forces with Industry Partners to Kick Off a High-Competency Logistics Workforce Development Project through CWIE
On 4 August 2026, Walailak University, through the Cooperative Education and Career Development Center, in collaboration with the Bachelor of Business Administration Program in Logistics Management, School of Management, and the industry partners, organized the kick-off event for the “Accelerating and Expanding High-Competency Workforce Development through Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education (CWIE) Project for Fiscal Year 2026” at Bunjongburi Hotel, Surat Thani Province.
The event was officially opened by Dr. Attanan Tachopisalwong, Director of the Cooperative Education and Career Development Center, Walailak University, who also presented the background and significance of the project. Prof. Pavit Tansakul, Assistant Dean for Quality Assurance and Curriculum Development, School of Management, welcomed the participants and presented the School of Management’s policies and support for the project.
The project aims to enhance the development of logistics graduates into highly competent professionals equipped with academic knowledge, professional skills, and practical workplace experience. It is designed to address the evolving needs of the logistics and transportation industries, which play a vital role in driving economic development and strengthening national competitiveness.
A key feature of the project in Fiscal Year 2026 is the adoption of a co-design approach, bringing together the university and industry partners to jointly define student competencies and learning outcomes that align with real-world workplace requirements. Participating students will undertake an intensive eight-month work placement from 20 April to 13 November 2026, while developing projects aimed at solving workplace challenges and improving organizational efficiency through Project-Based Learning.
The event also featured a special session by Dr. Wankasem Sattayanuchit, Head of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management Program at Vongchavalitkul University and an expert mentor for the project, who shared his expertise and experience in implementing high-competency workforce development initiatives. In addition, Assistant Professor Dr. Panida Chamchang, Head of the Logistics Management Program at Walailak University, presented the project’s implementation process and operational guidelines.
Following the presentations, university administrators, faculty members, workplace mentors, representatives from industry partners, and students participated in focus group discussions to jointly identify and define student competencies appropriate to the specific roles and requirements of each participating organization. Industry partners included Smart Distribution Services Co., Ltd., Lotus’s Surat Thani Distribution Center, Petchsrivichai Enterprise Public Company Limited, and N.P. Marine Co., Ltd., as well as affiliated companies supporting student development under the project.
This collaboration marks an important step for Walailak University in strengthening the integration of academic knowledge with industry practices. Through authentic workplace experience, students will develop essential competencies in transportation, warehouse management, supply chain management, and the application of digital technologies, while learning to address real-world challenges faced by industry. The initiative is expected to enhance students’ professional readiness and enable them to enter the workforce with confidence upon graduation.
