Walailak University and 47 Premium Companies Signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Solving The Labor Shortage in Phuket Tourism Industry
COOP WU cooperated with the 47 premium companies in Phuket and Phang-nga to sign the memorandum of understanding for cooperative education to develop students that can work and solve the labor shortage, especially in the tourism industry.
On Januray 31, 2023,Prof. Dr. Sombat Thumrongthanyawong, Acting President of Walailak University, and 47 representatives from companies signed the memorandum of understanding for Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education: CWIE anal 2023 with Prof. Assist. Phadungsak Suksa-ard, Acting Vice President of Walailak University, and Dr. Attanan Tachopisalwong, The Director of COOPWU, followed by the lectures and staff from Walailak University, be the witness in the ceremony at NH Phuket Boat Lagoon.
Walailak University aims to support graduates with expertise in both academic and practical work by changing the cooperative education system from 4 months to 8 months. Therefore, Walailak University cooperates with the company o sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance cooperation education and develop graduates to be ready to work and increase the competitiveness of Thailand Labor.
In addition, this movement is the mechanism for driving the labor production policy of The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), which has announced the CWIE Platform and the goal of driving CWIE by doubling the number of CWIE students within five years from 2020-2024.
Professor Doctor Sombat Thamrongthanyawong said, “Phuket has diversity in the fields of a company that can efficiently support students for cooperative education in several majors, not only the company in the tourism industry but also the state organizations, legal authorities, accountant consultants, and medical agency. Moreover, signing the Memorandum of Understanding for supporting a cooperative education system with 47 agencies in Phuket and Phang-nga can ensure the efficiency of the education system in that graduates will be hired and able to work, and solve the Labor Shortage in the tourism industry in Phuket after rapidly recovering of covid-19 that be obstruct the driving economy of Thailand.
