Walailak University Welcomes Yanagawa High School Executives to Strengthen Cross-Border Cooperative Education Collaboration in Japan

On 12 January 2026, Associate Professor Dr. Surin Maisrikrod, Vice President for Education Development and Corporate Communication, together with Assistant Professor Dr. Phadungsak Suksa-Ard, Vice President for Cooperative Education and Central Administration, Walailak University, welcomed Dr. Chao Temrak, an executive of Yanagawa Demonstration School, and Mr. Kenta Amano, Executive Director of International Education at Yanagawa High School.

The meeting was held at the Mokhalan Meeting Room on the second floor of the Professor Dr. Wichit Srisa-an Building, Walailak University. The visit provided an opportunity to discuss collaboration and prepare students for their upcoming cooperative education placements in Japan.

Two students from the Bachelor of Arts Program in English, Walailak University—Mr. Dechathon Detsathit and Ms. Phattharaphon Phantharak—were selected to undertake their cooperative education placements at Yanagawa High School in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan.

Mr. Kenta Amano stated that Walailak University is a highly regarded institution recognized for producing high-quality students. He expressed his pleasure at welcoming Thai students to experience Japanese culture and gain practical work experience in Japan. Yanagawa High School has made comprehensive arrangements for the students, including accommodation, meals, and a dedicated mentoring team to provide close support throughout their placements, ensuring that they have a positive and enriching experience.

Mr. Dechathon, representing the participating students, said that this opportunity would be an important challenge and allow him to experience Japanese culture and daily life firsthand. Ms. Phattharaphon added that she had prepared thoroughly by studying Japanese culture and ways of life. She also looked forward to sharing her English-language knowledge and exchanging experiences with Japanese students for their mutual benefit.

Yanagawa High School is located in Fukuoka Prefecture on Kyushu, the southernmost of Japan’s four main islands. It is recognized by Microsoft as a showcase school for the effective use of technology in teaching and learning. The school also places a strong emphasis on both English and Japanese language education.
